Overview

Summary: Leads and directs all Operations and Customer Service for national household goods export team by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervision/direction. 

This position will also be essential and responsible for building a new department within Lynden Int’l to grow organizational capabilities in household goods export forwarding services. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Responsible for developing operational processes and assembling necessary team to support national sales efforts.  In tandem with management, formulate the vertical goals.  

 

Manages the required operational staff focused on the household good services.   This will include customer service, quoting, routing and shipment processing.  The Project Manager will drive activities of the project team, including administrative reporting, performance evaluation, training, customer service skills, product knowledge and all operations related requirements.

 

Actively assist with account executives business development needs in sales and pricing efforts; facilitating resources to assist all sales activity efforts in successfully growing Household Good export business.

  

Insures all proposals and tariffs adhere to freight margin guidelines.

 

Actively participates in the development and implementation of change and innovations for improving productivity and the quality of service.

 

Responsible for staffing, employee relations, and personnel decisions.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Number of subordinates will depend on volume of business.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

High school degree or equivalent.  Minimum 7 years related sales and/or transportation experience, including 3 years supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Leadership skills are essential to this position.  College degree preferred.

 

 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret tariffs, general business periodicals, professional journals and manuals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  Proficiency in Spanish preferred. 

 

 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to calculate and apply concepts such as dimensionalized weight, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 

 

 

Strong analytical and quantitative skills.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

 

Strong organizational & leadership skills.

Competent in PC & internet skills

Competent knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Windows).

Competent in use of PCs and software for preparation of presentations.

Requires 10% travel, both local and overnight.
