Directs, coordinates and supervises activities for freight operation. Also supervises freight dispatch and drivers in Seattle region. Occasionally drives diesel-powered tractor with one or two trailing units to various destinations for the transportation and delivery of products and materials by performing the following duties.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Coordinates with Operations manager through route planning, driver dispatch and equipment maintenance and utilization.
  • Reviews all Business Intelligence reporting tools and metrics on a weekly basis, communicates results with Operations team, dispatchers etc. with emphasis and focus to increase productivity for the supervised areas.
  • Works with Regional Manager in analyzing reports to manage labor productivity, equipment utilization, maintenance costs, fuel economy, and other Service Center and operational activities.
  • Coordinates driver and equipment schedules to maintain compliance with load requirements, driver hours of service regulations, and equipment maintenance schedules to ensure efficiency of operations.
  • Assures that new employee orientation is conducted, including advising all employees of company rules, work requirements and safety responsibilities.
  • Will provide training and supervision of drivers including employee evaluations and reviews.
  • Adheres to and enforces the safety policy of LTI, Inc. and complies with the standards set forth by OSHA, state, local and industry. Also monitors employee compliance with company policy on traffic laws and hours of service regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Employee needs ability to write simple correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual will need basic computer skills, to include Microsoft Office products and Peoplenet on-board computer system.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid commercial drivers license with Class A, Air, Doubles and Tanker endorsements.

Valid ICC Physical Certification.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good public relations skills are a must to effectively dispatch employees and represent the company to its customers.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee will seldom be required to lift up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to read charts and see road hazards.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.


The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
