Manages and is responsible for the development and maintenance of assigned corporate accounts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Builds relationships of trust with corporate account buyers and influencers of logistics and transportation services. Identifies and presents transportation and logistics solutions. Assists in coordinating corporate sales assignments and territories. Leads by example in creating new opportunities for Lynden Transport and other Lynden Companies. Works with other associates to create the most effective solutions. Analyzes and resolves issues, or assists in resolving conflicts. Responsible for compliance of departmental and company policies.
Coordinates and confers with the Vice President, Sales & Marketing and with other associates as required to coordinate company activities. Keeps Vice President, Sales & Marketing advised of changes within the assigned territory. Stays informed and up to date regarding trends and activities occurring within the industry. Utilizes proven relationship building practices and selling concepts, tools, and techniques developed and/or provided by the company. Develops strategies to meet required profit and sales targets.
Facilitates and prepares proposals and bids as needed. Works closely with the pricing team to develop price schedules and contracts as needed. Assists customers in setting up credit and understanding the terms of credit. Responsible for completion of associated paperwork, communications, and customer service activities. Look forward to and is effective at securing annual price adjustments (GRIs) from each assigned corporate account.
Travels throughout assigned territory and will spend up to 50+% of time traveling throughout the Lower 48 States and Alaska to call on current and prospective corporate accounts and to attend related conferences. Responsible for discovering, developing, and maintaining corporate accounts under your assignment. Consults with customers to evaluate, promote and identify value added solutions. Represents Lynden Transport in a courteous and professional manner.
Responsible for working in a planned and effective manner to create the most value possible for Lynden, using available software and tools to do so. Maintains an accurate calendar, and captures customer data and contact information. Follows all travel and expense reporting policies.
You may be required to assist in special projects.
Records, traces, and enters information on company computer system as required. Makes inquiries from computer system. Operates other simple business machines. Maintains details of business transactions or other records as required. Counts, weighs, measures, and records number of units or other data regarding freight moved or handled. Makes calculations in totaling the accounts, determining discounts and computing extensions. Answers telephones and gives information to callers.
Dependable and consistent attendance required.

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) with emphasis on marketing, management, economics, supply chain, or transportation studies from a four-year college or university with five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as hazardous materials shipping regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and density.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to work with others.
Must have valid drivers license and be able to travel via automobile, airplane or other methods of travel for extended periods. Position requires the employee to be away on extended overnight trips up to 50+% of the time.
Position requires ability to write and use keyboard efficiently for extended periods. Must be able to travel throughout the terminal or office facility repeatedly during shift. Must be able to travel throughout assigned territory. Must be able to conduct telephone communication. Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods. Must be able to present presentations and speak publicly to others. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee also may work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
