  • Overview

    The Technical Support Specialist configures and installs desktop and mobile hardware and software to effectively utilize Lynden specific applications and helps support the local area networks and remote connectivity by performing the following duties:

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

    • Installs, assembles, configures and maintains software, hardware and network facilities as it relates to the desktop and mobile computing environment.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves client desktop computer related issues affecting user’s job function.
    • Performs computer diagnostics and repairs via phone, chat, remote control, or in person.  Identifies and analyzes problems using knowledge of established protocols, diagnostic tools, expertise of peers or other resources.
    • Creates and maintains required documentation for hardware and software maintenance and troubleshooting activities. Records and maintains company hardware and software asset information. 
    • Records and maintains company hardware and software asset information.
    • Ability to travel on a flexible schedule as needed to provide on-site support in the U.S. and Canada.
    • Assists with the testing, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware systems.
    • Maintains current knowledge of Microsoft’s Operating Systems and Office Suites.
    • Consults with and makes recommendations to IT users on selection of hardware and software products to address business requirements.
    • Participates in an on-call schedule to support 24x7x365 production environment.
    • Attendance and timelines are essential functions of this position.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

     

    Education and/or Experience

    Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school in relevant subject; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.  Ability to effectively communicate with, present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors and co-workers. 

     

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

     

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    Other:

    Applicant must have:

    • Excellent customer service and phone etiquette skills.
    • Understanding of mobile computing, such as hardware basics, wireless infrastructure and mobile operating systems.
    • Experience with anti-malware, antivirus and endpoint security installs and troubleshooting.

    Preferred applicants will have experience with:

    • VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure technologies
    • Imaging and deploying workstations using Symantec Ghost
    • Printer technologies including label, line and multifunction enterprise devices
    • Supporting other operating Systems (Windows Server, Unix, Linux, Mac)

     CompTia A+, Net+ and/or security+ certification is a plus.

The employee must be able to manipulate tools and install equipment in a variety of environments. The employee must be able to read information displayed on a computer monitor.
