  • Overview

    Provide support to the various Western Alaska shore and vessel operations.  Specifically to ensure that all shore side and vessels have adequate food supplies for the duration of the Spring/Summer seasons (6-8 months).   This is a seasonal full-time position.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned:

    • Attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position.
    • Work with shore-side and vessel personnel to determine needed items for food and supply orders
    • Put together and place orders to include various locations and/or vessels
    • Re-supply orders for above noted operations
    • Receive and store dry/frozen food and supply orders at camp and dock locations
    • Cook and prepare three meals daily for between 5-25 people
    • Keep mealtimes flexible with advanced notice in support of operational requirements
    • Responsible for cleaning and upkeep of galley buildings and rooms
    • Inventory, store, and/or disperse remaining items for Bristol Bay operation at the end of the season
    • Complies with all company safety policies, including use of protective equipment and Fit for Work.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Education and/or Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three years experience in commercial or institutional food preparation. 

     

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and speak sufficiently to converse with co-workers, supervisors and managers, to understand procedures and warning signs and or markings, to respond to inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.

     

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

     

    Knowledge:

    Knowledge of techniques and methods of quantity food preparation and storage.  Ability to plan the preparation of meals for serving at specified meal times.  Ability to prepare large quantity meals with a minimum of waste.  Ability to monitor inventory levels and requisition supplies to ensure adequate supply of food stuffs.

    The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be able to stand for long periods of time and work long hours as needed.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

     

    REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE):

    Employee may be required to wear PPE as outlined in Company’s Industrial Health and Safety Manual Chapter 2.27 PPE Program, which may include hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, respiratory protection and arctic gear.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near hot and cold machinery and mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.

     

    The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
