Knik Construction, an Alaska heavy civil contractor is looking for drivers to operate tractor-dump trailer combination to specified destination in accordance with company procedures and government regulations.  Applies knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicles at varying speeds to transport and deliver materials.


RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position.
  • Secures transportation of material product; this process may involve climbing up and on to the top of tankers, up and onto the deck of a flatbed, on to the flatbed load, securing a tarp for material coverage and/or into and out of containers as needed.
  • Be able to verify the type of material hauled and their weight.
  • Maintains records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including but not limited to the following:  driver’s logs, vehicle inspections, hazardous material manifests and permits.
  • Complies with all company safety policies, including use of protective equipment and Fit for Work.



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • Experience driving end dumps, belly dumps, and side dump truck with aggregate/asphalt hauling is preferred.
  • Some  knowledge of heavy construction equipment
  • Demonstrated decision making skills
  • Ability to work in high production environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ensures a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
  • Pre-hire drug test
  • Preference given to over the road drivers with 5 years OTR experience. Experience driving end dumps, belly dumps, and side dump truck with aggregate/asphalt hauling is preferred.
  • Must possess valid class “A” Commercial Driver’s License in addition to an acceptable driving record.  Must possess current DOT required medical card and written acknowledgment of submission of medical card to a Department of Motor Vehicle facility before date of hire.
