Are you an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who takes pride in finding solutions to problems that meet the expectations of your customers?  Do you thrive where each day is not like the last?  If so, Lynden is the place for you. This position handles all aspects of international export, import, and foreign-to-foreign shipments, via air and ocean, including rate quoting and customer service, with moderate supervision for high-visibility and key accounts.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Daily rate quoting and coordinating movement of freight door-to-door. Determining best routing to meet customers economic and service requirements (import, export, foreign-to-foreign, air & ocean).
  • Quoting, arranging and handling of Temperature Controlled pharmaceutical, healthcare, and laboratory products by air.
  • Identify and select carriers and vendors who will meet service requirements for shipments you are handling.
  • Communicate with carriers and vendors including requesting rate quotes and follow-up status requests.
  • Adhere to all regulatory compliance requirements for export & imports under your control.
  • Determine pick-up and export routing, documentation requirements, and filing of AES through ACE.
  • Arranges transportation of imported goods from airport/port of arrival, to final destination, and the preparation of inland bill of ladings.
  • Create and process shipping documents, including filing paperwork.
  • Perform all aspects of customer service through direct communication via email and telephone with customers and international agents, and maintaining a professional image and insuring quality service.
  • Analyze customer requirements and ensure internal processes meet or exceed expectations.
  • Understand and follow SOP guidelines and requirements.
  • Able to set and meet deadlines per internal and external customer expectations.
  • Coordinate warehouse inventories and process shipments for international customers.
  • Insure invoicing of customers is accurate to quoted and contractual obligations, approve vendor and carrier invoices for payment and submit to the corporate accounting for payment timely.
  • Occasional overtime depending on the workload
  • Possible on-call scheduled for weekend
  • On-time and predictable attendance is required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum requirement is high school diploma plus 4 years of international freight experience, or 4-year college degree and 2 year international freight forwarding experience.   Degree in logistics field preferred.   

 

Good written and verbal skills to effectively present information verbally, in writing and in person.   

 

Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, procedure manuals, tariffs, and other technical and professional material.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

 

Ability to calculate freight rates, including the effect of dimensionalized weight, and amounts such as percentages, volume, and discounts.

 

Experience in effective problem solving with minimum supervision.

 

Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and Outlook)

 

Good organizational skills

 

Foreign language skills a plus

 

IATA CEIV Pharma certification is a plus

 

IATA DG and/or IMDG certified is a plus

 

Lynden Logistics is a federal contractor so all employees, including employees working from home/distant, are required to be fully vacinated against COVID-19.

 

Must pass pre-employment drug test and undergo background investigation.

 

Ability to possess and maintain a TSA Security Threat Assessment (STA) with a status of Passed, or a

TSA recognized equivalent.

  • TSA recognized equivalents include a Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, Commercial Driver’s License(CDL) with Hazmat Endorsement issued within the 50 States or District of Columbia, the Transportation Worker Identification Card(TWIC), or Free and Secure Trade(FAST) card issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. STA’s will be submitted by Lynden Logistics upon job offer and renewed thereafter. Recognized equivalents must be current at time of application and successfully renewed by the applicant thereafter.
